Several car drivers, and private owners appeared at the Central Magistracy yesterday before Mr. E. W. Hamliton to answer sum- monses under the Traffic Ordin-

ance.

FAILED TO. REPORT

V. Ollfinsky, driver of private car No. 2771, was cautioned for

having falled to report a collision with a wall on the Repulse Bay

Road.

Did Not Give Way Kum Ho, driver of public car No. 575, was fined 810 for not allowing other traffic to pass when driving slowly on the Shek-O Road.

Inspector Alexander said Mr. L. G. Scott was driving his car' along Shek-O Road in the direction of Island Road, immediately behind defendant's car, which was travell- ing at a speed of 11 miles an hour, according to defendant! Mr. Scott sounded his horn as he wanted to overtake and pass, but defendant kept his car to the: middle of the road, and it was not tl just below Windy Cap that Mr. Beatt was able to get past.

Statistical Office Issues Monthly Report

The Statistical Office of the Imports and. Exports Department. reports that the total imports of merchandise into the Colony in the month of August, 1934, amounted to a declared value of $39.7 millions (£30 milions) as compared with $39.9 millions (E27 millions) in August of 1933: a decrease in terms of local currency of 0.5 per cent.

Exports of merchandise totalled $27.8 millions (£21 millions), as against $32.1 millions (£22 millions): a decrease of 13.3 per cent.

For the first eight months of 1934, Importa totalled $265.0 millions (£19.4 millions), as compared with $337.6 millions (£22.5 millions) in the corresponding period of 1933, a decrease of 21.5 per cent.; while Exports were valued at $208.1 millions (£15.2 millions), as compared $272,4 millions (£18.1 millions) In the corresponding period of 1933, a decrease of 28.8 per cent. The following table shows the comparative figures of 'im- ports and exports (including Treasure) daring the months of August, 1934 and August, 1933:-
