London, Sept. 5 The price of gold was again increased yesterday, a new record being set up at 1418. 5d. per fine onnce. The rise on the week is from 1398, 5d. on Saturday last, and inosaures the fall that has" taken place in the value of sterling on the world's exchanges.

In early dealings yesterday sterling showed a firmer tendency, and the French exchange rate touched 74 11-16, but there was a slight reaction, and at the close the rate was 74 17-32
