KING'S THEATRE
"Springtime For Henry"
The stage success, "Springtime For Henry," which enjoyed a run of eight months on Broadway and ave months in London, made its appearance on the screen of the King's Theatre yesterday. The play, which was written by Benn W. Levy proved to be so popular both here and abroad that it was purchased for the screen by Jesse, L. Lasky, to be produced for Fox Film. Featuring Otto Kruger as the gay bachelor the screen ver- sion is even more elaborate in story, comedy and dramatic situa- tions than the stage play
The story deals-with Henry Dewlip (Otto Kruger), a care free, footloose bachelor who is con- stantly in hot water when it comes to women. Two women in particular, are out to lead Henry to the altar. How Henry in- fluenced by his two women com- panions to reach a decision is re- ported to provide the film with an uproariously funny conclusion. Naney Carroll and Heather Angel portray the roles of the two wo- men in Henry's life. This is Miss Carroll's "Arst screen appearance after a long absence, from the Hollywood studios. The support- Ing cast includes such stellar names as Nigel Bruce. Herbert Minding Arthur Hoyt and Geneva Mitchell.
Benn W. Levy, the playwright, was brought to Hollywood to re write his play..and make It even stronger and better from the standpoint of screen material. From the author's new treatment Keens Thompson and Frank Tut- tle, who also directed, fashioned their screen play.
