Yankee's Failure Explained
Newport, R. J. Aug. 28. When she appeared to be over- hauling the Vanderbilt Syndicate's Rainbow in the third race of the final series of the America's Cup yachting trials, "the Yankee sud- denly dropped her canvas and abandoned the race.
The Rainbow led by the narrow margin of 35 seconds at the end of 15 miles of the 30 mile course, but the Yankee was then rapidly decreasing the Rainbow's lead.
