At this season of the year the intelligence may be welcomed by some of our readers.

"I am an invalid and leave for California next week to run away from your Hong Kong summer, and fearing that I may not have the pleasure of seeing you prévious to my departure, I write you this note. I think you would be con- ferring a great benefit on many of your readers, did you inform them through the columns of the "Daily Press" of the fact that there be- ing a most excellent hotel (Royal Hotel) at Macao. This is the best hotel I have been at since leaving France, and is cleaner and in: bet- ter order than four fifths of those even there. The most fastidious could not and cause to complain- everything clean, a most excellent table, good servants, and a most

Three weeks ago I was taken sick and of course the first thought was to get a change of air, but where to go was the question-of course being an invalid I would not for a moment accept the hospitality of any of my friends, and thinking the hotels were the same as in for- mer times at Macao, why I say no other means jeft than to keep quiet at home, and grow) the thing through. By the merest accident I heard from a French Lieutenant, of the excellence of this new house just started at Macao, and I im mediately left with my wife. The result of my own personal obser- vation have written above.

There must or there may con- tinually be, persons altuated just as I was, and as I said before I think did you mention the above facts relating to the Hotel to your numerous readers, you would be conferring upon many of them a great benefit.
