Plans For Election

(Special Air Mail Service)

London, Aug 11, Preparations for the meeting of the Salvation Army High Council on August 28 have now been completed. The council, compris- ing leading officers from all parts of the world, has been, called to elect a successor to General Hig- gins, who will retire on Novem- ber 1. The first session will open at 10 am at The Institute, Con- gress Hall, Linscott Road, Clapton, E., and will be held in private. It is expected that the proceedings will last more than one day.

Instant Death For Mr. H. C. Hamilton

Berne, August 28.

Mr. Hamilton had been driving magnificently. In an exceedingly fast race and has just entered the last lap of the course when the disaster occurred.

His

powerful carskidded violently on a bend, ran out of control and crashed into a tree.

Mr. Hamilton was taken from the wreckage, but was already dead.

A piece of the tree fell and struck one of the spectators, who was sent to hospital in a serious condition with a fractured skull,
