AMERICAN ORIENTAL FINANCE CORPORATION AND S. E. LEVY & CO."

New York, Aug. 23. The American Oriental Finance Corporation's, report through their New York agents, Mestra. A Pierce & Co.. atate#:--

Stocks: We still believe that the logical policy is to purchase on minor recessions,

Wheat: Moderate profit-taking and liquidation has continued in- termittently. Trade Was light. Near positions are continuing to resist declines, while Trades are awaiting developments in Wash. Ington.

.

Cotton:-Business Was small and largely of a professional char- acter, with the Trade the principal buyers. There was some hedging. The benefit to be accrued from the rains in the South-West is doubt- ful on account of their lateness.

Rubber:-The market was very Sut quiet and trading remained within a narrow range. Most of the buy- ing came from Commission Houses, while selling was scattered among dealers and local operators.

CABLES

The following cables were re- retved last night by Messrs. American Oriental Finance Cor- poration.

London Forecast Yesterday's gold shipment is ex- pected to dampen inflationary hopes. Therefore, we anticipate some selling which will cause Wall Street to open dull. We expect a two-sided market in Wheat. The frost is affecting the quality more than the quantity of the wheat crop. In cotton, a lower and undecided market is expected. Not much change is expected in ether markets.

S. E. Levy & Co.'s. Cables

The following cabled reports were furnished by Messrs. S. E. Lery & Co. last night...

American Weather Report All the Spring Belts and the Northern Corn Belt are having a cold snap with frosts. Probable damage is expected. A cold wave is setting along other parts of the Com Belt preceded by showers which are moving towards the coast.

||

The North-west Cotton. Belt is favourable. Texas is still torrid but the weather in North Texas is Hlable to be broken by part of the Northern cold wave. The remain- der of the Cotton Belt is very un settled.

on

Market Reports Favourable factors before open. ing of market:-The volume of business shrinks

reactions. The asked prices for seats on the Stock Exchange do not indicate any bearish opinion. "Interested buyers, generally, can offer within a reasonable distance of the pre- vious "sale price. However, the best offering for a seat at present is around $160,000 compared with the last sale price of $95,000.

Unfavourable Factors: The lack

of conviction regarding the busia- esa outlook, the unsettlement of the wheat market and the tax- drive on foreign operators in the stock and commodity markets.

The market is steady with movements mastly. confined to minor fractions in either way. The resumption of cautious trad- ing seems to be expected, awaiting taxable signs of business improve- ment and developments at Washington.

London Silver:-Spot: 21-9/16 (unchanged); Forwards: 21-9/16 unchanged.

London Silver Report:-America, India and Speculators bought Chiria sold, market steady,
