TWO COLONY RECORDS
KWOK CHUN HANG AND LAU PO-HAY SHINE
CHINESE PERFORMERS CERTAIN FOR INTERPORT HONOURS "
Lionel Pereira's Effort
For the first time since the Interport Swimming Trials" commenced, Chinese swimmera; made their appearance yesterday, when Kwok Chun Hang, the Colony's Breast Stroke Champion lowered the Colony's 100 Yards Breast Stroke record by a substantial margin, while Lau Po Hay" of the Chinese Athletic Association broke Lionel Rora Pereira's 100 Yards Back Stroke récord by one second.
In the only other event on last night's programme, Lionel Roza Pereira swam an excellent race in the half mile to win in one second off the Colony's record set by J. R. Johnstonë in 1929.!
These times and records give a possible indication of the strength of the. Colony's Interport team to the North and high hopes are entertained for the Colony's all round superiority in the forthcoming Triangular Interport.
In the first event, Kwok Chun "Hang of South Chtha, holder of the Colony's 200 Mettes Breast Stroke and of the 100 Yard mark distance lowered the latter record by four seconds in a brillant race. EM. Marqués, V.R.C. Champion, Kwok, N. Delgado, Wong Suen Man and Sung took the water together from the start.
The first 25 yards saw Marques clinging onto Kwok but the latter
broke away. at the turning and was seen to have a slight lead.
In the third length "Kwok Chun Hang had taken a distinct lead rom Marques while Delgado, and "Wong Suen Man were fighting it dut among themselves for third place.
The last length w Kwok shoot away into a lead of several yards to touch the finishing wall four seconds better than his previous best time of 77 seconds made in
1930
