Small Towns Hide Loveliest Says "Vanities" Producer

America's most beautiful girl never reach the stage or screen. They remain "undiscovered" in small towns scattered throughout the country, never coming to the attention of play and picture pro- ducers.

This is the opinion of Earl Car- roll, who has produced eleven editions of his famous "Vanities" and who brought eleven of his Broadway girls to Hollywood for Paramount's film version of his stage hit "Murder at the Vani- ties." It is coming on Saturday

to the King's Theatre, with Carl Brisson, Victor McLaglen. Jack" Oakle, Kitty Carlisle, and Duke Ellington and his famous orches- tra..

FEAR OF STAGE

"An age-old fear of the stage keeps parents from permitting their daughters to come to the two great beauty centers," Car- roll said "A girl must come either to New York or to Holly- wood to be seen. Many people still retain the erroneous belief that the stage and screen are. not fit places for decent young ladies. They will not permit their daughters to become aff- Ulated with the theatre.

"Through these portals pass the most beautiful girls in the world." That traditional legend is paint- ed over the stage, door of every New York theatre in which Earl Carroll stages his famous "Vani- ties."

If the girls were any less beauti. ful than they are, that legend 'would be just a "gag" but the girls are beautiful-and the legend is accepted by newspaper critic and public alike as the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Earl Carroll's girls are the most beautiful in the world year after year in each succeeding "Vani- ties."

A scene from,“

Are Blondes Pre- ferred?

When asked if "Gentlemen still prefer blondes and f So why? Carroll is not in, the least baffled. "They really do." he explains. Eyes travel automatically toward bright light. Glitter and light at- 'tract every gaze However many of Our most beautiful girls in the Vanities are

blonde. There

are many lovely brunettes, ash- blonde and titian-haired beauties who can compete very sucessfully with any blonde in the world, no matter how strong her magnetism may be,

Because Carroll is a super-sert- sitive man with a wealth of quiet poise he applies expert psychology to bring out the best qualities in every girl he selects. Contrary to many old-fashioned views of the theatrical producer Carroll does not tolerate, the least profanity or the slightest evidence of garish ness in any of his girls. They are encouraged and expected to dress smartly, but with good taste. They are instructed to get plenty of sleep an that they may, be up and out in the sunshine by eleven o'clock each morning. Earl Car- Iølt teaches these girls to find their beauty aids in Nature's sun. ply of medicine-the Sun the fresh sir and the fruit and vegetables which STOW out ot doora..

CARL BRISSON WINS U. S. A.

Carl Brisson, the famous Da- nish-English star, has completely won over America with his first Paramount picture, Murder at The Vanities.

So successful was the "preview of the film that Brisson has been besieged ever since. He has bad to engage five people to deal with callers, telephone inquiries, and letters, and it is very rarely that- he leaves his house.

He plays the part of the star in an Earl Carroll Vanities show in New York. While girls are singing and dancing and walle the audience are attuned to the frivolity of the show a myste- rious murder takes place. The police are called in, and no sooner ere they in the theatre when a second and more mysterious mur- der is committed.

Brisson sings a number of beautiful songs in that inimit
