Grains: The market fluctuated erratically within moderate 'limits. Commission Houses on both sides and professionals were inclined to sell early in the day but, later, evening up operations appeared to be the principal feature in the strength of the Cash market.

The tone in the afternoon session opened with some strength in sympathy with
Shanghai, and Sterling was reported to have been done as high as 1/8 7/16 for Sep- tember. Subsequently business was. done for that month a 1/8 13/32, the market closing with buyers at that rate for August-September and sellers at 1/68.
US. Dollars-
Dollars were also done early in the session at 30 1/18 for Bep tember delivery but later only 39 was obtainable at:which rate busf... ness was done. The tone closed with sellers at 38 15/16, buyers for August/September at 39.
