T. Paget And E.B. Roza In Thrilling Sprint

A. A. ROZA'S CHALLENGE

W. Lawrence, swimming a, very well Jagded race, yesterday evening broke the existing Colony's '326 Yards Free Style record by over two seconds. He recorded a bellbent "treble" fr the Interport Swimming Trials by taking first places in the 100 Yards, the 220 Yards and the 440 Faards.

Lawrence returned the excellent time of 2 mins 30 secs, which is just 2-2/5 seconds better than J. R. Johnstone's prev- lous record made in 1929.

11

Lionel Roza Pereira again came second and although he hung on teanclously he was unable to niske ty on Lawrence whose bursts of lead in the sixth and seventh lengths gave him.. the race.

"I

The pace was very fast and Lawrence's first 100 yards was covered in 63 seconds.

T. Paget further enhanced his chances for the spriat dis-" tances when he beat H. L. Ozorio by 1-2/5 seconds in the 15 Yards sprint..

Owing to the Shanghai pool be- ing 60 Yards, long, the original dis- tance of 50 Yards was changed to 75 yards in order to give the Cal-
