The Interpart Swimming trials at the Victoria Recreation Club last evening produced a sensation" whop W. Lawrence, whose meteoric rise to the peak of the Colony's swimming world took place this season, brought off the "double" by annexing both the 100 Yards Free Style and the 40 Yards Free Style from Lionel Roza Pereira in brilliant manner.

In the latter stages of the face Poza evidently tired by his efforts in the 100 Yards slackened off had to be content with third place.

The Quarter Mile

In the quarter mile Lionel Roza Pereira took the lead in the first length and held it til the third against A. A. Roza and W. Law- rence, while J. E. Souza provided the "also ran."

The lead changed alternately between Roza Pereira and A. A... Roza until the start of the six- teenth length, when Lawrence who was only a "couple of strokes: behind the leaders suddenly shot away ahead of the rest. closely followed by Roza Pereira.

Both swimmers were going all out to a glorious finish and al- though Raza Pereira broke into one of his famous last minute sprints. he was unable to catch Lawrence who touched' two fifths of a second to the good.

It was a brilliantly judged race on the part of Lawrence who is to be congratulated on a magni- ficent "double,"
