BOOK REVIEWTM

Suppressing Communist Banditry unins-by Tang Leang LI published by China United Press. Shanghai, 1934.

This book records the history of

communist movements in the China. We are told how the Russian influence was introduced by Sun Yat Sen, and then we trace through it's course

the years following the war. When Sun Yat Sen dies the story is taken up by the efforts of Rusata to take over control of the Kuomintang. In 1927 the excesses caused by the Hussians resulted in their suppres- sion; and in the closing up of the consulates. The next seven years are concerned with, the attempts of the Central Government to suppress the communist armies.

One gets so used to reading con- tinually about the

communist situation in China, that öne may be forgiven if" interest flags in newspapers. But here we have in one volume the history of these years as seen through the eyes of

the Nanking government.
