London, May 30. The oldest mail carrying sign, the Post Horn, has been adopted method of by the most modern transport. the air mail.

This device in gold surmounted by a golden crown on a royal blue background became the Royal Air Mall pennant for the first time to-day when the Imperial Airways Liner Hengist piloted by Captain Horsey. left Croydon at 12.30 on its 8000 miles journey to India and Singapore.

The ceremony of presenting the pennant took place at Croydon at mid-day when Sir Eric, Oeddes, chairman of Imperial Airways, welcomed the Postmaster-general, Sir H. Kingsley Wood and Lady Kingsley Wood.

The guests included the Marshel of the Royal Air Force. Sir John Salmond, Mr. F. G. L. Bertram, de- puty Director of Civil Aviation. Sir Hal Colebatch, Agent-general
