Of European Railroads

A distinctly European atmos phere pervades By Candlelight." Universal's sophisticated comedy. which comes to the King's Thea- tre on Sunday, with Elissa Landi and Paul Lukas in starring roles. The picture is based on Siegfried Geyer's play of the same name which played a long engagement At the Prince of Wales Theatre in London.

There are many scenes aboard a train travelling from Vienna to Monte Carlo, with the quaint short cars and distinctive equipment which is part of European all- roads. It is on this train that the butler and maid' masquerading 28 members of the nobility strike up an acquaintance which brings about hilarious complications when the two carry on their romance In the apartment of the butler's titled master.

Much of the action of the story takes place in the Prince's luxur- lous apartments in Vienna and Monte Carlo, and there are scenes ut the famous gambling casino of the latter city, where jealous bus- bands increase the intensity 4. decidedly awkward situations.
