The accused were Sham Sundar Rai and Ram Dahar.' The former with attempted charged, cheating by personaling and the later with abetment of the offence.

Both pleaded guilty, Detective-Inspector Judge, in- vestigating officer, told the court that the complainant was a Char-

dyachal, while the first accused was a clerk to Mr. Shanmugam, a Incal solicitor, and the other man was a driver in the Singapore. Traction Co.

Ham Dahar, the inspector pro- D.Lceeded, harboured a grudge against the watchman and approached the solicitor's clerk to get a false civil judgment for $652 against the watchman, who, he had been in- formed, had obtained leave.
