American purchases Landon market yesterday absorbed supplies for account of China, In- dia and the Continent and took prices up to 19 for Ready and Forward the rise being 3/8 for Ready and 5/16, for Forward. The strength, however, was apparently not maintained after prices were fixed. In New York the price was 44.70 and the tone easy. ".

The cross-rate New York on top- don opened at 5.114 and closed at. 5.101. There was apparently no- thing doing. the market being de scribed by one source as stagnant.
