After the watchman had given evidence, the defendant stated that, while sitting on the deck of the ferry boat he saw a man run past him and at the same time heard shouts from the lower deck. Together with ten others he gave chase. It was dark at the time and he could not see the person clearly, and after turning. the corner last sight of him. The watchman then arrested defendant and accused him of stealing.
