The ability to talk direct to

Hollywood from the heart of a Hawallan Jungle, was one of the modern conveniences which Cecil B. De Mille arranged for while filming his latest picture, "Four Frightened People." in the Islands.

Miles from the nearest telep- hones, De Mille installed his own telephone service on. two such locations connecting directly with the regular Hawalt exchange.

The telephones bore the num- bers "Hollywood 1" and, "Holly- wood 2," The executives were able to call De Mille and check over business matters direct with hlm during the one week in which he filmed in that vicinity.

Apparently the phone numbers were an admission on the part of of the Hawaiian natives that the Los Angeles city limits had been extended another 2000 miles...

For The First Time The King Of Beasts Battles The Monarch Of The Jungle

There are more men killed by tigers in the jungles of Asia every year than there are tigers killed by men.".

It was this statement," accident- ally read in a Singapore news paper that was the Inspira- tion for the Fox production "Devil Figer" the sensational at- traction coming to the King's

Theatre on Friday.

It was on reading this simple Item that Clyde E. Ellott; who directed the film in its natural locale, decided to make a picture of the man-eating tiger who dares murder more often than man..

Elliott interested his friend, James O. Spearing a. New York newspaperman, in his project and together. they Concocted the story that Devil Tiger tells. The filmization of the tale that there' Is a tiger in Malaya who has been seen by only a handful of natives, but who had already taken a toll of dozens of mens lives, kept fascinating them until the com- plete story was outlined,

He achieved as the director of Frank Buck's "Bring 'Em Back Alive." sprang "to his immediate assistance and he began sembling his material in earnest The story called for three white actors, for it is the first drama of feature. 'length ever made. in the Jungle proper. Marion Burns, Kane Richmond and Harry Woods. were recruited for the parts. offering what might mean the loss of their lives in the making of so realistic a film.

The company salled from America on October 19, 1932 and returned to Hollywood on July 15 1933, a little short of nine months away from civilization It was the longest and most distant location trip ever made, wtih many miles of film on which were recorded the most exciting scenes ever seen by man.

Every sequence was photograph- ed and its sound recorded, in ita natural locale. In many inst ance, only slight, provision was made for the safety of the com- pany. During the course of the eight months, that the picture was in the making Jask Dunn, a cameraman was mauled by a black panther, Kane Richmond: had two ribs fractured by a con- stricting python that could not be forcibly unwounded, and Marlon Burns suffered the experience of having the huge jaws of a 20 foot python snap shut within six short inches of her face.".
