TRIBUTE TO SIR HENRY POLLOCK

THE SYMBOL OF HONESTY AND

FAIRPLAY

Annual Dinner Of The Football Club

There was a very large attendance at the annual dinner of the Hongkong Football Club held at the Gloucester Restaur- ant on Saturday night, when Sir Henry Pollock, Kt.. K.C., the "President made his last appearance in an official capacity for

the Club prior to his departure on Home leave next Friday.

The evening was a thoroughly enjoyable one and many clever speeches and musical items featured the programme.

Among those present were the Hon. Sir Henry Pollock, K.C., President of the Hong Kong Football Cub, Mr, M. K. Lo, vice- President of the Hongkong Football Association; Capt. P. Haigh, Army referee; L. J. Forbes, Navy Rugby Captain; Lt. J. H. Koc- quard Army Soccer Captain: Lt. B. L. E. Herbert, Army Rugby Captain: Major H. M. J. McIntyre, R.A., Mr. H, K. Lee, and the Rev. J. N. Lewis-Bryan, Captain to the local forces,

Sir Henry in proposing the roast of the guests said, "On several oc- casions this year I have been un- able to attend your functions, and I am very glad that this dinner took place before I leave the Co- läny on leave next Friday.

Soccer Results.

"The Soccer section have suc- ceeded in fielding two elevens throughout the season,

"The first eleven has mo, yet completed the full League fixture

list, but its record to date is a "follows:-

"These results' I'm afraid do not justify our regarding the Club side as one of the outstanding League teams, but, nevertheless, they took no small part in shaping the des- inles of the leading sides (much applause). The Club eleven can usually be relled on to encourage their supporters and confound the critics by suddenly giving a spark- ling display of football to carry off unexpected honours,

Valley is as good if not better than the average standard of soc- cer he had witnessed at home forty years ago (applause).

Sir Henry said he was glad to welcome the guests, Mr. M. K. Lo. vice-President of the Hongkong Football Association, Lt. J. Forbes, Captain of the Navy rugby fifteen,

Lt. Hocquard, Captain of the Army soccer eleven, Lt. . L. E. Hebert, captain of Army rugby, and others representatives of the Army and

affiliated Clubs.
