MALAYAN CHINESE HOCKEY XI ARRIVE
Four Games To Be Played In Colony
Following the departure of the victorious Malayan Interport. Hockey team last week, the Overseas Chinese Hockey team of Malaya arrived in Hong Kong yesterday morning by the B.I. steamer, Talma, bringing "with them a very good reputation as
a team.
The Chinese visitors which comprise 15 in all are under the managership of Yeo Check Wah, a well known sporting.personality both in Malaya and in Hong Kong, having played football here in" the Colony for the St. Joseph's Club and in Singapore for the Straits Chinese Football Association
Included among the members of the team are several Inter-State players whose reputations are almost as good if not better than some of the Malayan's we have already seen in action.
The Chinese visitors intend leaving for Macao to-day, playing their first game, there to-morrow and their second" on Saturday.

The idea of the tour was con- célved during the Al-Malayan Chinese Olympiad of 1933, held at Kuala Lumpur, F.M.S., in which Hockey was one of the events in the" programme. Every State in Malaya was represented in the event, and on the final evening of the Olympiad, an All Malayat Chinese team played the Selangor State Eleven and forced the latter to a draw
Following that game an in- formal conversation ΟΣ Hockey arose and it was suggested that in view of the popularity with which almost every nation in the world including China's nearest neighbour, Japan had "taken to
the game. 201 attempt should be made to organise a team to tour China with the ob- ject of popularising the game amongst the Chinese.
wards
So far the team have," done wonders in making the game' popular among the Chinese classes in Malaya and innumerable teams have been formed all over the country.
