Today's Racing Prospects Reviewed

BISTRE AND RACING PLUCK FOR DAILY DOUBLES

Australian Event May Provide Upset

BY 'MORNING DEW")

1:

Once again the weather threatens to spoil the race meeting arranged to take place at Happy Valley this afternoon for at the time of writing the prospects of a clear day appear distinct- ly unpromising.

However, the programme of nine races is sufficiently open to make up for the weather and it goes without saying that once again some big dividends will be paid across the pari- mutuel counter.

The race. for "B" Class Australian ponies is the main at- traction of the day. Sancy Face, The Goose, and Glorious Star. are favoured here, though if the going should be wet or sticky, some of the old ponies might upset calculations.

Bistre, Racing Boy, Warrington, National Day, Tiny Star and Partnership are due to meet in the Subscription Griffins Spring Handicap over a mile and a quarter. There should be a good race here, with the odds slightly favouring Bistre.

་་

CAN LEMBERG WIN FIRST RACE?

The opening item is a race over a mile and a quarter for "C" Class China ponies. Lemberg, spite of his top weight of 168 pounds, appears to be the best things go to the post. under Mr. AJ. P. Heard. Mr. P P. Botelho will ride Spinaway and here is a pony which should get very near the winner. Mike and Glad Eyes have about equal elatma for the remaining places, and.. on the whole, I think that Glad Eyes will get it. Sporting Life and Bay View are good outsiders, especial- ly the former.

SUBS'

SPRINT

The six furlongs sprint for sub- scription griffins, winners barred should be interesting. On past performances, In Good Time should not have much difficulty in winning. It is certain that after -his fine run at the last meeting" that. Little Beauty will find many supporters. The pony should be prominent. I am not sure that The Carp will not account for the favourites. I think he will be a sound each way bet. Sarabande. Racing Spirit and St. Ives all have a sporting chance of running lato a place.

The Goose and Lucy Gut- ters come next in the weights and both will have plenty to say about the result. Dinty has only 148 pounds to carry and may prove 1 good thing here and the same is true of 'Vriday. High Finance and The Giraffe are worth backing as long shots.

.. AN

OPEN EVENT

On his running at the last Extra meeting, I think Racing Pluck' should win the second leg of the "Doubles" Tso Tak is in good condition at the moment and may give him a race, but I can hardly see

this pony winning. West Parade is not a bad bet and for a good outsider White Jade Stag can be recommended. Great Hall may start here and since the rest of the field is not of much class, Mr. Ho Kom Tong's pony may run into a place. A very open race indeed, with the odds slightly in favour of Racing Triumph.

MIRS BAY

STAKES

THE LAST RACE

The last race of the day is for novices and I am sure Tang Man Wah on Classic Hall will draw the biggest support. The pony is a free mover and Tang should not any difficulty with him.

I have no doubt that of the fourteen entries in this race over a mile and a quarter, the public will make a favourite of Bright Star. The poly should win, though it will not be easy to shake off Prima Donna and Gladiator Griffins which have not yet won both of whom are starting here. will meet over a mile and What Mr. Harriman rode a fine race on A Chance should register a win Prima Donna at the last meeting, bere
