PARIS FASHIONS

Seen At Parties And The Play

In the evening there are many wraps which have no collar but are heavily-trimmed with fur about the elbows and at the hem of the cape or coat. Dresses have trains, and some show the foot in front. The neck line is much less open down the back than for- merly; and sleeves to the elbow, full about the shoulders, are usual. The waist is not pulled in, but it is suggested by more fullness in the bodice, especially in front. A wisp of a wrap goes with most dresses. It may take the form of a little cape, which is worn back to front, or a small jacket with kimono sleeves, and it maf- ches the dress.

(Special Air-Mail Service)

London, March 23. The tailored coat and skirt with a gay blouse and a pert little straw hat make the fashion of the hour. The skirt is slim; the coat may be loose fitting and fairly long; or there can be a neatly adjusted short jacket. The neck tie matches the hat trimming. which may be spotted, checked, or tartan silk. Navy blue with bright red at the neck and red In the hat is almost as fashion- able as navy blue and white. There are so many ways of using spots, stripes, checks, tartans, col- ours, that a plain coat and skirt, in black or navy blue, admits of a dozen different ways of trim- ming. Many blouses button down the front, some down the back. The buttons are decorative, in crystal, metal, wood, or some other hard substance.

I a new play at the Varietes some dresses are worn which are examples of what may be seen There when spring really comes. is black dress with a cowl collar of pale blue crepe de Chine and a draped beret af the same. A slim brown dress fits the figure and has a plastron front fasten- ed to the shoulders with big brown buttons. There is no re- lief of bright. colour

this

dress. A black dress has a parrot red silk bow, accor- dion pleated and of large dimen-· sions, with a draped toque to match. A pleasing evening dress Is 'in yellow organza figured with big rose red flowers. The sleeves ere made of closely gathered ruches of the same material, very feathery and soft. The neck line is cut square and is low back and front.

At afternoon parties black is worn more than any colour, black and white, black with colour and white spots, blads and white checks and stripes. The interest- ing thing 18 that "coats and skirts are as much worn in the afternoon as in the morning. They may be in silk or wool, the skirt may have a full back and some fullness in front, the coat. may be more. se a short doman .with very wide. kimono siceyes; and the blouse can be as fussy, as any one likes in frilled lawn, in crinkled crepe marocain, in white or col- oured satin. A dress with a short cape-jacket is in navy blue crepe with a many-coloured figured blouse in surah and a short scarf to match knotted in front. The cape has a atted yoke and 18 closely pleated into elbow length sleeves. The same pleating forms the skirt from the knees to the hem,

All skirts are a little shorter. than they were during the winter months. The waistline is firmly indicated. A very well-cut black frock is in aire marocain cut on princess lines and worn with a short pleated cape, which dies at the back and has a little round neck into which a frilled white tucker is stitched.

* Jack to Knee Length.

Undoubtedly the skirts of taller- ed suits, and of the neat little belted dresses of soft wollen ma- terials and linen-like fabrics in which we will go about our day- time business, are being made shorter. Some of those seen at many of the leading houses did no more than comfortably cover the kness. With the right kind of legs this is probably a more becoming length than to the calves, but happily it is possible at the moment for any woman to have the length of skirt that pleases her and' know.. that she looks quite all right.

The tailored suits and other- morning dresses are made to look fresh and pretty with Jabots. These can be of organdie, taffeta, muslin,, crepe, georgette, or any- thing you fancy, and give an en- livening touch that some of our clothes lacked during the winter. Woollen scarves are warm · ard- useful-losing, but one, begins to look now for something rather more temtatne,

Flesh-Coloured Stockings Stockings are to be as nearly as possible the colour of flesh, so as to give the impression that.. their wearers are barelegged. I am told that the fancy for bare legs will rage again during the summer, but will not be favoured by women who aspire to be con sidered really well dressed. I do not think the ever went in for it much.-

ately priced at $12.50 and should be. very cool for these hot days,

Eunice

"Eunice" has now moved back into her original salon at the rail- way end of the Peninsula Arcade und can therefore display her large collection without the former running from one salon to the other as was the case when Nos. 2 and 10 were occupied.

Large shady straw hats and petit models have been received from London as well as many attractive novelties and flowers.

A big hole has already been made In the Spring collection of day and evening gowns but there are still some very attractive gowns priced at $30 to $85 that one would im- agine would be priced at double their cost.

"Eunice " pointed out to me that all her gowns are originals and not factory-made duplications. She does not repeat an order un- less given permission by the ori- ginal patron. Her remarkable standard of Anish, cut and work- manship is rigidly adhered to even in her cheaper $15 to $25 gowns.

A fascinating model in deep blue crepe with a gold sequin cape collar falling in two lengths right' to the floor at the back particular- ly took my eye. It was called the "Suntide" and was priced-mira- culously at only $52.
