CURRENT IMPORT PRICES

COTTON PIECE-GOODS AND FANCY COTTON GOODS The following reports havs been received:-

The customary spring. trade in cotton pieces-goods is slow to de- velop this season. The higher Cus- toms duties hamper transactions with the hinterland, and Hong Kong dealers are greatly restrict ing credit trading. The Canton market is being catered for, al- most entirely by Shanghai pro- ductions, which enter that port practically duty-free. Except for a few "spot" sales, the local mar- ket remains featureless.
