MESSRS. ROZA BROS. REPORT

The Suver market in London was, probably stagnant judging by the absence of a change in the rates for the fourth day in succes- sion. Rates were 20 for Ready and 20 1/16 for Forward. Advice were not informative, merely recording the very small business and the Idleness of the market. In New York the price was down. at 45. The tone was dull.

!!

Sterling opened and closed in New York at 5.10.

Market

Inclined to easiness at the open- ing followed by an uncertain per- lod and eventually developing easi- ness. The market was possibly brought down more by talking than $12.80 from any other cause.

Sterling Could have been obtained at the $131 opening at 1/6 1/18 with buyers $769

bidding 1/6 for near delivery. A small business was fixed at 1/81 fon delivery in the month of May. $71/6 3/32 was also reported for April. Sellers held off subsequently bringing buying inquiries to May, 1/6 3/32 April and 1/6 1/18 for near. The best selling rate at the close was 1/6 for March/April, 1/6 1/32 May and 1/8 1/16 June with buyers at a fraction higher.

Asia Landa, Limited, has received the following report from their New York correspondents, E A. Pierce & Co. The market was steady enough after the first hour but there was no rally and we do not see how it is possible to anticipate. The Trade would rather stay on the side-lines and waite

Wheat: The weakness was due to the decline in securities and the news from Washington relative to speculation. North-Western crop news was very unfavourable.

Cotton: After general liquidation by the Trade and Japanese, the progress of the Bankhead Bill caused a substantial recovery.

Silver: Early selling was absorbed by the Trade...
