HELTER SKELTER WINS ROYAL NAVY CUP TO PAY DAY'S BIGGEST DIVIDEND

D. S. Li Rides Three Winners

(BY

MORNING, DEW ")

The feature of yesterday's racing was the success of Mr. D. S. Li who won the two main races of the day, the Subscription Griffius' Challenge Cup and the Rooty Hill Derby with Tiny Star and Able Amazon respectively. The latter won the Australian event without very much diffi. culty.

The biggest dividend of the day was paid by Helter Skelter when he won the Royal Navy Cup in fine style, thanks to a nice bit of work by Mr. A. J. P. Heard, who also had a very successful day.

Another good bit of riding was seen when Mr. Frost steered home Gleneagles in front of Sadko and Hetman to win the Exchange Plate. The Dunbar candidate ran very well and reminded one of the.days when he regular- ly came home a winner and was one of the most formid- "able middle distance candidate in local racing.

Cossack's Beauty made certain of the Gymkhana Stakes by a convincing defeat over King's Justice in a field of fifteen starters. Mr. Marshall rode the winner here and rode a very confident race.

!

Soldier of China redeemed himself somewhat vester. day by winning the American Club Cup from a field which included some of the season best gritas.

EXCHANGE PLATE- Sadko started a favourite for the fourth race, but was just beaten at the finish by Gleneagles.. Sadko ran at the head of the field in this race, and had to make his own pace, Hetman was a good third.

CORAL PLATE The Goose, aided by a flying start had a long lead and created quite a thrill when he led into the straight. Woodland Stag was the only one to catch him up. Lucy Gutters finished third, accounting for Night Star, Polar Star and Fortia.

CHAMPION'S DAY Prospects Of Some Good Racing

Today is Champion's day, and so far as the big race is concerned, interest, will mainly be centered on the question as to whether Trent- bridge will be able to extend Liber- ty Bay. The Ladies Purse should provida a good race, and I can see a keen usale here between Gleneagles, Sadke "and Cossack's Beauty Brechin too, has a sporting change The Sports Club Cup and Hong Kong Stakes for Subscription grif- fins ought to be a good race. Clasic Hall will have plenty of opposition There from Cavalcade, Tiny Star and ¡Surprise

One of the most interesting races on the programme is The Jockey Oup for novices, which is the last race on the card before the interval. Mayflower has a good chance of winning here.
