The market for silver in London was steady on Saturday last but the business transacted was amali and were mainly for account of China Banks which operated on Rates both sides of the market. were 1/16 lower at 20 9/16 for Spot and 201 for Forward. The rate in New York was also lower at 161 for Spot.
There was no change of any im- portance in the cross-rate which was quoted at 5.07.

Extremely quiet conditions pre- vailed and at one time it looked as if the market had no interest in anything beyond the Races and the rain Later some small bust- ness was done in the Interbabk market against small purchases by Chinese speculators,
Sterling The market ppened at 1/6 13/32 sellers, 1/8 15/32 buyers from which points operators refused to budge. Later on some cover was wanted against small sales to speculators and small Chinese transactions were fixed at 1/8 7/16 for near, 1/6 15/32 April. 1/6 13/32 March and again at 1/6 13/32 March. The market closed with sellers for March at 1/6 13/32 and sellers might possibly have given February delivery as well.
For
Apr 1/6 7/16 was obtainable. There were buyers for March" at 1/6 7/16 but very little Interest was displayed for Apri at 1/6 15/32.

We would prefer side-lines boying on the side, pending further developments. The auto mobile strike has been postponed until Monday, as labour leaders are endeavouring to get all the plants to join the movement,
Wheat: Some telling pressure and farther reports of rains in the South-West caused scattered liquidation and the market is now awaiting some new incentive.
Cotton: Market dull. Sentiment is mixed and many are awaiting definite sotion on the Control Measure..
Silver: Market steady but irregular. There was heavy transferring of March contracts into later deliveries.
