(From Our Special Correspondent)
Canton, February 25.
It was officially announced to- day that more troops will be sent to Southern Klangs for the sup- pression of the Communist-bandits following the evacuation of Lung- yen, Southern Klangst. in favour of the Nanking troops under Gen- eral Chiang Ting Wen.
Lungyen was garrisioned by the Third Independent Brigade of the First Group Army (formerly a part of the 19th Route Army) but on the orders of General Chiang Kai Shek. these troops were sent to Mul Yuen in Eastern Kwangtung for further training before depar- ture for the Kiangsi front. General Chen Teal Tong, Commander-in- Chief of the First Group, considers that the Fukien-Kwangtung bord» ers are well protected by strong defence works, and three, divisions of picked troops.
The anti-Communist campaign in Southern Klangsi had to be put off owing to developments in Fukien at the end of last year but now both Nanking and Canton will re vive the drive against the Com-. munists early next month. At the same time the Reds seem to be
holding their own and dare not rald the government lines.
According to an official report, the people in the Communist zones are tired of the Red rule and would welcome the rehef by Cantonese troops. The price of salt is very high, the report said. although there is a sufficient supply of this stuff. *There is 2 shortage of money, and the Communist au- thorities have to use so-called: banknotes which are said to have --been issued without reserve.
