Faris, February 23. Premier Doumergie scored his first substantial success in the Chamber, since taking office, when on Thursday night the Chamber passed the Budget by 469 votes to 123. This overwhelming majority is all the more impressive as the Budget problem had already been responsible for the downfall of two
Cabinets
Doumergue's Budget provides for a revenue of 48.477 million francs and 48,413 million expenditure, or a theoretical aur plus of 59 millions: The Chamber also conferred upon Doumergue powers enabling him to make a re- duction in the expenditure items should the revenue received fall below the Budget estimates.
Th Budget HOW requires the sanction of the Senate and will be dealt with on Monday and passed finally in the second and third readings on Wednesday night at the latest. After such an очет- whelming majority, in the Châm- ber, it is assumed that no hitch will arise in the Senate.
