AGAIN.

Big Attendance At Kwanti Races

LOCH NESS PAYS $52 FOR A PLACE.

(By "MORNING DEW")

Glorious sunshine favoured the Fanling Hunt and Race Club's meeting at Kwanti yesterday where there was a fairly large attendance,

The fields were on the small side, but there was no want of keenness in the racing. Miss Fearon again won the Ladies Mile, while "honours in the remaining events were evenly distributed.

The biggest dividend paid during the afternoon was on Loch Ness, a pony which finished third in the sixth race. Supporters of this candidate received $52 for a $2 ticket.

Stickypast led a long way ahead in this race and after six furlongs he was only followed by The Gad- wall who passed him on the bend just before entering the straight, and won easily. Tientsin Beat Hong Kong

Shanghai, February 18 Tientsin have surprisingly shared the honours with Shanghai in the Triangular Interpart Soccer series as the result of their lucky win over Hong Kong, the wooden- spoonists, by 4 goals to a to-day.

As in their game against Shang- hat the Colony team showed a de- finite superiority over their oppon- ents, but their forwards refused to shoot when the opportunity afford- ed, and Tintain anapped up their chances to win by a comfortable margin after leading by 3 goals to 1 at the interval,

A crowd of 8.000, as compared“ with 13,000 who saw Shanghai beat Hong Kong, were present in poor weather, a steady drizzle falling throughout the game.

Hong Kong were again dogged by the worst luck. They cutplay- ed Tientsin for three quarters of the game, but the refusal of the forwards to shoot was the main cause for the Colony's defeat. They literally made rings round the Tientsin defence, but sorely lacked the essential finishing touches.

V. Gosano, B. Strange. " A. Gosano, and Hocquard were the outstanding players in the Colony team, which combined, in perfect:!

manner.

A sensational start to the game was provided when A. V. Gosano cut through the Tientsin defence to score the first goal, three minutes after the kick-off.

From a centre, however, Rodger equalised, and, though the Colony team dominated play as the result of perfect combination. Tientsin secured the lead when after 20 minutes Jones scored from one of

the few breakaways. Ten minutes later Jones scored again from a rebound from the crossbar, and Tlentain crossed over at half time with a lead of 3 goals to 1.

J:

A Penalty Appeal

Hong Kong commenced the second half in aggressive style and had the Northerners penned in their own goal area, but the for- wards were most feeble in their shooting, there being innumerable missed chances,

derful passes, and it was frora one Hocquard scintilated with won-

of these that B Gosano headed into the net to reduce the arrears. Colony team continued to press Encouraged by this success the

most. vigorously for the equaliser, and the Tientsin goal was subject ed to many sensational hairs- breadth escapes.

After the referee had ignored a unanimous Hong Kong appeal for a penalty, when a stinger from A. V. Gegaro struck the hand of a Tientsin defender, the Northerners ran away to net their fourth goal and thus made the match safe.- Reuter.
