In many cases quotations doubled during the year, and some of the L. and N.E. stocks show apprecia- tion of something like 200 per cent. above the low points reached in the early part of the year.

The record of home rails is, in fact, fully as good as that of any other section of the market.

Asia Landa, Limited, has received the following report'frain their New York correspondents, E. A. Pierce & Co. The irregularity of the market represented mainly the effect of realising sales and doubt if any serious reaction threatens,

Wheat: Liquidation by yesterday's buyers developed a reactionary tendency. There are no immediate prospects of moisture in the South Weat.

Cotton: A steady and good speculative demand caused a late rally, Selling was represented by realizing and some Southern sales.

Silver: red liquidation and the lower Sterling exchange in Londen caused an easier opening. Prices later declined further on Senator Robinson's statement that he did not expect remonetization legislation this session. The announcement was made after the close that the President had devalued the Dollar to the level of 19.08 per cent of its former value, The Treasury has announced that beginning on February 1st, it will pay thirty-five dollars per ounce for all gold and not merely for domestic mined gold. This is to continue until further notice. Business Done: 2,110,000 shares.
