TRAINING GALLOPS

GRIFFINS SHOWING FASTER TIMES: MONOPLANE GOES WELL

(RY ' MORNING" DEW")

Interest in yesterday's training gallops on the sand course lies in the fact that. there were several very fast performances among the Derby griffins,

The two newcomers from Shanghai, Hydroplane and Monoplane were both tried out.

Monoplane covered a mile in 2.14, last quarter 31.2, which is not so bad at all. The pony is considered one of the best.

Soldier of Britain it will be seen, did a mile in 2.12.1, with a last quarter of 30.3. Soldier of Chiar took 2.14 over the same distance and finished "the last quarter in 29.3. ・・・

Prima Donna went over a mile in 2.13 and finished up with a last quarter of This pony is moving very well at the moment and his gallop was 20 seconds. effortless.

Mr. Dunbar's Oak Bay went over a mile and a half and came home in 28.4, which is quite an interesting gallop.

It is of interest to note that Macaroni and Gladiator finished their mile and. half in 3.39.1 and took only 29.3 seconds for, the last quarter.

3.

In the subscription griffins class, the performances of Young Chap, King "Willow, Sincerely Yours, Bran Tub, Chow Fan and Copper Idol are illuminating.

For Australian ponies. Bag Tor performed very well indeed, taking 2.01 for the mile and finishing comfortably in 29.1 seconds. Saucy Face went over three quarters of a mile and came home in 27.4 seconds.
