RODRIGUES AND ZIMMERN ALSO BAT WELL

Two first division matches and three in the second division were played on Saturday when some high scoring was seën. Batting honours go to Owen Hughes who made 95 for the Club against the Army, the match resulting in a draw.

In the other game, also a draw, A. M. Rodrigues (University) made 85 and E. Zimmern (C.CC.) hit out in Ane style for 87

runs...

Latest reports from Canton state that during the week-end at about 2 a.m. in the early morning. A 'serious earthquake accurred in the “Shang Ngar Wal Village" of the Wai Yang District,

The shock was considered to be rather serious, for after a very short time, six houses in the village were reported" to have callapsed and six people were killed and fourteen seriously Injured.

It was fortunate that the shock only tasted about fifteen minutes. otherwise much more damage would have resulted.

It is reported that all the in- jured people have been removed to the District Hospital for treat- ment.

The feature of the week-end football programme at Home was the defeat of the Arsenal at the hands of Manchester City. It was a close game and although the result did not come altogether as a surprise, there were quite a number of people who expected the Arsenal to

Another close game was that between the Spurs and Leicester which resulted in a 10 win for the latter..
