GOLDEN HARVEST

Coming Soon To The Queen's

Charles R. Rogers' first produc- tion of the 1933-31 season for Para mount, named "Golden Harvest." will be shown from Thursday at the Queen's Theatre. It is an up-to-the- minute story of the farm strikes in the great Northwest and pictures the turbulent scenes in the Chicago Wheat Pit which brought about the strike.

The film features Richard Arlen, Chester Morris, Genevieve Tobin, and Julie Haydon in the romantic roles. Comedy leads are played by Rosco Ates and Elizabeth Patterson.

Two romances ar, interwoven in this story of the struggle between two brothers. Born on a farm, they separate when they reach manhood. Ore goes to Chicago, becomes a wheat speculator, drives down the Eprice of grain.

As the farmers suffer from the drive against grain prices, are fore- ed into foreclosures, the brother on the farm becomes their radical lea der.

The brothers, through different motives, combine to raise prices, and in highly dramatic scenes in the Wheat Pit the picture drives on to an exciting conclusion,

feature at the King's Theatre.

The lines spoken by Howard in this Fox picture produced by Tesso L. Lasky, are said to have the same elements of interest possessed by Hamlet's celebrated soliloquy,

Director Frank Lloyd, although an exponent of more than "actiou and less dialogue, retained "the speech in its full length and did not interrupt ita dramatic continuity by camera cuts.

The film version of "Berkeley Square" has approximately thirty persent less dialogue than the play by John Balderston which ran so long in London and Now York. Howard had forty per cent of the total dialogue, Heather Angel twenty-three and the rest of the cast, Valerie Taylor, Alan Mow- bray, Irene Browne and Beryl Mercer make up the difference.

A Preview At. The King's

"I cover the Waterfront which is shortly coming to the King's Theatre is, in brief, a picture coa- cerning the adventures of a news paper reporter in his attempt to get a story of the snuggling. racket"

The scones of the picture, as its title suggests, are all in the water- Front, and apart from "the many interesting highlights, such as shark watching and the way in which Chinese are smuggled nto America, there is a romantic story behind with Claudette Colbert and Bes Lyou supplying the interest. Ernest Torrence as the smuggler and the father of Claudette Colbert guve bis usual brilliant characterisation, while the supporting cast help to make the picture an enjoyable" and rather unusual entertainment.

The story opens with a none too satisfied reporter Joseph Miller (Ben Lyon), informing his chief through the phone that he is fed up with the job in the waterfront. The editor, however, refuses to listen. Meanwhile, Miller although he seems fed up with his job, has hia attention on Eli Kirk (Ernest Torrence) whom he suspected of smuggling Chinese into America:

The next day, making his rounds, Miller encounters Eli's daughter, Julie (Claudette Colbert) and in order to get evidence against her father, asks his editor's permission to make love to her.
