A sequel to the scandal is that the well-known music hall, the Empire, one of the most famous variety halls in Europe closed down yesterday since its owner Henri Hagotte was a close friend and agent of the monocled Stawisky. Hagotte who is also wanted by the police is at large.

Those bardest hit by the Bayonne fraud are insurance companies. The bonds, said to involve two million pounds sterling, were issued on behalf of the Municipal pawn Broking establishment of Bayonne which, like similar establishments in Paris and elsewhere in France,, is operated under State control, The bonds are said to have been issued without proper security. The presentation of bonds of sixty million franca by an insurance company led to the discovery of the frand-Transocean Kuo Min.
