In some ways, perhaps it was fundaman- tally constructive. that these stale long positions should be cleaned out of the market and-we are not bearish on that account.

Wheat: The weakness of securities and of staple commodities, toge- ther with the fear of the Government acreage repart of Winter wheat not being reduced discouraged holders. Buying power was limited. Shorts are technically healthier. The Government, report of Winter conditions shows 74.3 per cent of normal.

Cotton: The market was irregular and liquidation was active. Prices regained part of the loss near the close. We believe that purchases on set-backs will prove profitable.

Silver: There is no feature today, other than liquidation for March by commission houses. The Trade shows very little activity. Business Done: 3,160,000 shares.
