Captain Miles, who appeared after a fortnight's" adjourment on bail of £5,000, is charged with conspiring with Leopold Harris, ringleader of the great fre-rais- ing plot, and with others, to per- vert the due course of Justice.

old Harris and that he warned him when trouble was brewing and a trap had been laid.
To-day's hearing revealed how long and carefully the police were investigating the long series of mysterious fire ocurrences before effecting any arrests.
IN PAY OF HARRIS The prosecution alleged that Miles received £25 every month regularly from Harris from 1930 onwards, the payment being the result of a meeting between the two at which Miles is alleged to have mentioned that he could heip Harris by shutting his eyes suspicious circumstances in fres. It was further alleged that, when the investigations were started. Miles pretended to be on the side of the insurance companies while giving Harris warning ́of various pitfalls.
