BRECHIN & VIGILANCE NOMINATED FOR THE DAILY “DOUBLES”

BY "MORNING "BEST"

What promises to be one of the fastest races that we shall see for many a day will he staged at Happy Valley this afternoon, when the cream of the Australian ponies will meet over five furlongs at weight for inches. The public will be hard put to it to find the winner, but I think Night Star will be very near, provided the pony gets away with the gate.

The Daily Doubles will be on the fourth and seventh race and Brechin is widely fancied for the first leg. He should win. For the second leg, punters will probably divide their allegiance to Vigilance, Partnership and The Goat. These ponies have about equal chance.

Trentbridge will have a virtual "walk-over” in the Griffins Cup over a mile and a quarter, while in the last race, Lady Peel's pony, Lucy Glitters looks a certainty.

The Tiger and Don should make a good race of it in the Surrey Handicap which is a little over a mile. Both ponies are in tip-top condition.__
