An Amendment To Restrict- Votes Of Shareholders'
Nanking. Oct. 19. The Central Folitical Commeil uns tentatively adopted an amendment to Aricle 129 of the Company. Law which calls for the restriction of: the votes of shareholders having more than eleven shares. The pro- posed amendment will be forward- ed to the Legislative Yusri for examination and formal adoption.
The Article in question provides that each shareholder of the Com- pany shall have one vote (at share- holders' meeting) for one share, but that the number of votes of shareholders having more than eleven shares shall be restricted by the constitution of the Company. It is further provided that the total amount of votes a shareholder shall be entitled to exercise, either in his own behalf or as proxy for other shareholders, shall not in any case exceed one-fifth of the total number of votes.
It is suggested that companies in which the Government is a share- holder, as well as those operated jointly by Chinese and foreign interests. be exempted from the restriction. Kuo Min.
