Asia Landa, Limited, has received the following report from their New It looke if, although special liquidation has been under way for several days, possibly this liquidation had nothing to do with such factors as the weakness of commodity prices, the European political situation or anything of that sort

We do not think that the weakness of the market Accessarily indicates that well posted observers believe the Recovery Programme to be doomed to fallure.

Wheat: Active and nervous, resisting selling pressure. Cotton: The early advance is understood to account for hedge selling on the part of the Government and long liquidation of furnished contracte. Later long liquidation and offerings from the South caused a decline to level of about yesterday's closing prices.

Silver: Prices opened distinctly easy, with commission houses liquidating. Offerings were absorbed on the scale down by banking and foreign interests...

Near East markets show some signs of renewed interest. It is doubtful, however, in the event of business being possible, whether. this will relieve Java of any stocks as such sales would in all probabi- lity be covered by repurchases ex previous sales on the Amsterdam Terminal Marketa It is well known that these sales were in main due to expectations of guilder, inflation and this not having materialised it is thought possible that the actual sugar may eventually find its way back to In- dian markets. We would then be back in the old position of Java sugar being shipped to Europe from whence it is reshipped to India, the sole beneficiarien being the Steamship Companies."
