Messrs. Roza Bros. have for warded us the following exchange report for Saturday :—
Silver prices were again higher. yesterday to the extent of 9/10 for both deliveries, the quotation, being 18 Ready and 18" for Forward Silver advices reported America as having bought, Amounts offering were small. The tone at the close was uncertain. In America, the rate was slightly lower at 38 for Spot. The market was inclined to business.
New York advices reported the opening rate at 1.61 and the clos. ing rate at 4,662. The highest rate done was 4.68.
With the exception of the Shang- hai rate which was unchanged at 10%, the Java rate unchanged at 55 and the Bangkok rate which was put down to 132; other rates were put up.

The market opened with "sellers at 1/5, buyers bidding 1/23/16 Subsequently business was done at 1/5.3/16 for near delivery followed by transactions at the same rate for October The market closed at. lunch time with probable sellers at 1/5.5/32 September and 1/5.3/18- October, buyers at 1/32 higher res pectively.
U.S. Dollars.
Business was done early in the morning at 33.5/18 for the last few days of this month, also 331 for cash. The market then reacted and business was done at 337/18 and 33 for October delivery. The market - closed with sellers at 33 September and 33.7/16 October, buyers probably at 337/16 for cash and 33.9/16 October.

40. Bonds Azia Lands, Limited, has received the following report from their New York correspondents, E A. Pierce & Co. The market looked quite a bit. improved. It is impossible, to say whether it will be lasting. Groups which are attracting the most favourable comment include metal shares, oils and sugars.
Wheat: The strength of the Sterling exchange and the continuation of inflation news stimulated general commission house buying.
Cotton: Motivating tases of the advance were the improvement in demand for cotton goods and the belief in some form of infation.
Silver: Farther rumours of Inflation caused a strong close, after being steady all morning.

Thus the sudden depreciation of the dollar during the past week bas changed the conditions, and for the time being at least, it is evident that our policy is to follow the dollar. There is no question of a flight from sterling or anything of that kind. The Exchange Equali- sation Fund is strong enough to deal with the situation should it be necessary, For the present, how ever, sterling is left to its own re sourcea. The immediate result that the exchange rate in French frauce fell still further yesterday morning and finally closed at 81 31-32. This compares with 813 week previously.
