RESULTS

TOTTENHAM HOTSPURS HOLDS TO A DRAW

Sunderland Score Five Times Against Sheffield

The Arsenal's stock is falling, it would appear, from all news received about their activities in the First Division of the English League. Last week they went down sur- prisingly to West Bromwich and on Saturday, they only managed a draw against Tottenham Hotspurs-not a very impressive showing for the holders of the championship.

Chelsea did well to take the points from Aston Villa by the only goal scored in the match, but West Brom, after their victory over the Arsenal earlier in the week dis- appointed their supporters by sharing the points with » Newcastle.

"

Two matches in the Scottish leagüe were not played and the results of the games, as cabled by Reuter, together. with the league table brought up-to-date, were:-

HETMAN'S EXCELLENT

PERFORMANCE

Strongly Favoured For "A" Class

The feature of the gallops on Saturday at Happy Valley was the excellent performance of Mr. Pearce's Hetman, ridden by Mr. A. J. P. Heard. The pony was sent over a mile and covered his ground convincingly finishing very strong. Hetman will now be a strong challenger 'against Sadko in the "A" and "B" clasS race on Saturday,

The main interest in the gallops centered on the subscrip- tion grimns. The favourites for the Challenge Cup all ran" well, particularly National Day. He seems to be coming up just in time to be ready for the main race on Saturday. Warrington, Golden Dragon' and Gay Butterfly are all in fine fettle and gal- loped well

Amoy, which readers will see carries top weight for the se- cond race on the programme, pulled up lame, and is not likely to go to the post. Another pony reported lame was Jingle, but he was seen to gallop on Saturday.

Brechin appears to be running quite well now and may be worth watching and Tenorio also is on the" top of his form.

The following times were clocked:-

A crowd of 22,000 witnessed the game in glorious weather.

The result was in the nature of a surprise as Ireland, had pre viously won on only three occa- sions in their games against Scotland in the series. Only four

of these games have been drawn and Scotland have scored 185 goals to Ireland's 36.-Reuter.
