Robert Montgomery has the prin- cipal part, and his acting of the role of a man who has endless cou fidence in himself provides the lighter touches in the story. Sally Eilers, as a would-be suicide, whom, Montgomery rescues from a reveals once again what a charming personality she has and in Made in Broadway" she has a role that fits her gown to the ground. The story is somewhat unusual, but it is not the theme so much as a success- sion of events, each in itself quite entertaining, that makes the picture so agreeable. Madge Evans is also in the cast.

London, Aug. 1-The outstand ing event in the British film world this week will be the first public. performances at the Cariton Theatro on Wednesday of the screen version of Mr. Noel Coward's successful: musical play Bitter Sweet.

The picture has been produced and directed by Mr. Herbert Wil- cox at the British and Dominions Studios at Boreham Wood, and at least three of the players who took part in the presentation at His Majesty's Theatre will now be seen on the screen. They are Mias Ivy St. Helier as the disillusioned café singer, Mr, Alan Napier as Lord Shayne, and Mr. Clifford Heather- ley as the proprietor of the cafe in Vienna, Mian Peggy Wood's part of Shri Linden will be played by Miss Anna Neagle, who has already been seen in a number of British films, including The Flag Lieuten ant and The Little Damozel. Mr.. Fercard Graavey is the music mas ter with whom the heroine elopes, Mr. Miles Mander is the captain with whom he fights his fatal duel, and Mr. Stuart Robertson sings the Tokay drinking song. There will te an opportunity this week, there fore, of seeing how two of Mr Coward's most striking works have been handled for the screen in Bri- tish and American studica, for.
