The fact that States and Soviet Russia are apparently approaching each other in regard to their com mercial relations, is reported here to have encouraged. Russia to seek an agreement with Japan."
Though Japan now imports lum- ber, coal and oil from Sovie, Itus sia and exports machines, iron and dry goods, no small inconvenience is felt among commercial circles owing to the lack of a commercial treaty. Asik Landa, Limited, has received the following report from their New York correspondents, E. & Pierce & Co. The market was essentially unchanged. However, there was it good underlying demand for stocks, although this demand may await soft spots for making purchases. Wheat: The bullish American and Canadian crop reports were off-set. by slow foreign demand for Canadian wheat. The current estimates of European wheat production, including Ruasis give 60,000,000 bushels more than the previous season. Cotton: Tradings was relatively light. reflecting the uncertainty regarding the crop estimate due on August": 8th. Silver: There is a general indisposition on the part of all classes. of traders to press their commitments either way, pending new developments,
