League Lawn Bowls

I have often said in these nates that lawn bowls is as much a game of luck as of skill and al- though many readers are sure to join issue with me on this state- ment, they must admit that last week-end bowls matches have more than substantiated my state- ments. Who, for instance, could have predicted a defeat for the Bowling Green, league leaders, in their match against the Kow- loon C.C. There is, according to the Yeague table, such a die- parity between the teams that the possibility of the Bowling Greso "being defeated could not be enter tained. Yet they were defeated. As if to add strength to my argument Craigengower, also at the head of the league went under to the Kowloon Docks. Here again. no one could have pro- phesied a win for the Kowloon

team.

The two losers are still at the head of the league and it is a good thing for them that they both have so much in hand. In the first division this year there is very little between the different clubs, hence the surprise results from time to time. To date, Craigengower and Bowling Green have each sustained three defeats and are jointly at the head of the league, and it will be interesting to see how many times the ultimate winner of this year's league will auffer defeat !

Australians Due Here

From the heading of this para graph you might think that the Australian cricketers are going to pass through the Colony very soon or that the Davis Cup representa- tives of Australia will be giving an exhibition on the courts of the Hong Kong Cricket Club. You would be wrong in both your guesses.
