KINEI, June 27, 1933. There is not much to report from here. A little is being done by the community for relief of the needy partly by contributions of grain by the wealthy, partly by contributions of money. It is of inferior quality, but pe ple are glad to take it at 80 cts. per sheng of 4 catties instead of the good rice on the open market at $1. or ovar. Nothing is being done

A man was in to-day telling how. he had managed to borrow some money from his landlord, a real favour. For every 810. that he borrows he must return at harvest time, perhaps 3 months from now, 1 dan of goodie. The 810 will buy at present price about 1 bushel of rice the dan of goodze will make between 4 and 5 bushels of

money he pays about 350 per cent. rice. So for 3 months use of the interest, measured in grain. China has hardboiled profiteers all right.
