EDINBURGH, June 13. The Prince of Wales presided yesterday evening at the ons hun dred and fiftieth annual dinner of the Highland Society of London at Grosvenor House, Pärk Lane.

In the course of his speech in proposing the toast of the society. the Prince of Wales, who wore the Royal Stuart tartan, said that whenever he had travelled he had met the Highland Scot. The High lander had always, lived rather a life apart: He scorned dependence. and because of that he lived a life of poverty, and poverty was one of the chief incentives to migration. He was also self-reliant.
