Chain of Bonfires as Protest Against Nazi Proclamation

AUSTRO-GERMAN TENSION

TIGHTENS

Strong, Anti-Nazi Measures

Foreshadowed

(THROUGH REUTER'S AGENCY]

VIENNA, June 2.

Austria is answering the Hitlerite threat of terrorism by a chain of mountain top bonfires to-night as part of a great patriotic demonstration against the proclamation that Here. Proksch, the Austrian Nazi leader, was thrown from an acroplane over Lanz, relioring the Nazi Austrian officials of their functions, presumably as an alibi for them in the event of outrages.

Strong anti-Nazi measures are foreshadowed by Dolliuss who stated that the Government will not be turned by letters threaten- ing death and is prepared to defend the Fatherland to the last drop of blood.

HERR HUGENBERG

RESIGNS

FRICTION IN GERMAN CABINET

(THROUGH BRUTER'S AGENCY)

BERLIN Jine 25. is understood that Hugenberg ..haa tendered his resignation, but Pres. Hindenburg has not yet accepted it...

Hugenberg in his letter to Pres. Hindenburg, it is understood, has given the opinion that the Enabling Act passed by the Reichstag on May 23, becomes invalid with his resignation as it is limited to the duration of the present Cabinet.

Nazis on the contrary maintain the Cabinet is known in the Chan- cellor's hame and resignations by Cabinet Ministers do not affect the rosition of the Cabinet itself.
