This type of bowling is now definitely upheld by M.C.C. which has addressed a seven-hundred word cable in reply to the Australian "body-line" bowling Board of Control's protest against

game as the writer has ever seen him play. Time after time he won a-point by some drive from an ap- parently impossible corner of the court, and often when his partner was out of position he covered him and brought off a wonderful save. He played a sterling game through out the match but it was in the first set that he showed to the greatest advantage for in the other two his partner gave a much bet ter display and he did not have anything like so much work to do In spite of this, and of steady and consistent play by H. D. Rumjahn and Cassumbhoy, however, the In- dians were unable to escape defeat.
The Committee of the M.C.C. have had no reason to give special attention to the leg theory as prac tised by fast bowlers, but they are the present season for anything which might be regarded as unfair or prejudicial to the best interests of the game.

The result of the No. 2 Singles came as something of a surprise. Not only was Tsui extended; he was beaten in straight sets after getting a good start in both. Polintan gave a polished display, his forehand driving and placing being very accurate, and he fully deserved his victory."

others.
Mr. and Mrs. Pearce have the next best stable, while the leading Chinese stable is Kong Bros., with perhaps Samson next. Over eighty stables were represented by the candidates taking part in the fret half of the year's racing.
The Handicaps.
One of the most attractive aspect of racing in Hong Kong in the fact that there are quite a large propor tion of handicaps and in this connection the handicapper seldom comes in for any deserved applause though he has to take his measure of comment from time to time. There is no denying the fact that the present handicapper is a very capable person and that it is due. mainly to his instrumentality that the handicaps have been as popular as they are. Of course there are times when one wish that a certain pony had less to carry or that others had a little more to look after, and on such occasions one is apt to blame the official respon- sible for allocating the lead, but anyone who care to do so, will find on examining the results, that the handicapper is very rarely wrong and that handicaps, on the whole, go to make the best races in the Colony.
The Starter.
On Tuesday the much anticipated "B" Division match between C.R.C. and South China took place but those who were expecting a olos struggle were disappointed, the former team winning easily.
