''AFRAID TO TALK"
STARTLING STORY OF MUNICIPAL INTRIGUE
In order to provide a realistic background for the revealing scenes Afraid to Talk," startling drama now showing at the Central Theatre to-day, Universal constructed practically an entire city hall inside one of its enormous sound stages.
Characteristic offices of city offi cials, court rooms and all the in- teresting departments of a municip al administration building wore re produced; supplying audiences with A cinematic four of a large city's governanstal seat. Additional sets depicting the elaborate cafe and night clubs wherein much of the city's destinies are hatched required the erection of no less than three different sots where three entirely parate entertainment shows and orchestras performed. Every Be quence of this unusual picture was screened inside the sound stages which made every separate scene a separate set.
Architects and artists designing, the sets were required to accomplish more than twice that which they would be called to "do on the average motion picture, because of the many sections of a great city which this film braces.
Eric Linden and Sidney Fox are co-featured in "Afraid to Talk" supported by Tully Marshall, Louis. Calhern, Mayo Methot, and other popular film artists. Edward Cahn directed.

"ROBBERS' ROUST"
GOOD WILD WEST YARN AT THE ORIENTAL
One of Zane Grey's best stories is now being presented in the form of a talkie at the Oriental Theatre, and, judging from the large crowds that went to it yesterday, the green version of "Robbers' Roost" is no less popular than the book. In fact we would make bold to say that the picture is even more in- teresting than the story; and this of course is due to the fact that the leading parts are left to the capable hands of such versatile players as George O'Brien and Mauree O'Sullivan.
The picture was presented at one of the loen: theatres sometime ago, but despite this it is continuing to draw good houses to the Oriental Theatre.
As far as the story itself is con cerned, it is too familiar to need. recapitulation here but a word must be said for the way the whole cast worked to make "Robbers' Roast" one of the best Wild West yarns seen on the local screen for many a long day.
